Ecolon is a ceramic based coating which is mostly made of silicon dioxide (also known as silica or SiO2), a material most commonly found in nature such as stone and sand. Unlike traditional cookware with PTFE-based non-stick coating, Ecolon is not harmful to the environment and the human body.

Benefits of Ecolon Coating

Most non-stick cookware in today's market uses PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) for its non-stick properties. While PTFE made aluminum cookware popular as it provided a non-stick solution and prevented corrosion of aluminum, recent findings show that PFOA, a chemical used as a processing agent in the manufacture of PTFE-based cookware, could be a carcinogen and be harmful to the environment. The Ecolon is free of all harmful chemicals including PFOA and PTFE.
